Main Image
The primary product photo shown in search results. Amazon requires a pure white background and strict framing rules.
Why it matters
The main image is the single highest-leverage asset on a listing because it does the work in search results, where the buying decision narrows from dozens of products to three or four. A weak main image loses the click before your carefully written title is ever read.
In practice
Amazon's requirements are non-negotiable and enforced by automated review: RGB white (255,255,255) background, product filling 85% of the frame, no text, no logos, no props, no packaging unless the packaging is the product. Violations get the listing suppressed rather than politely flagged.
Within those rules there is still room, angle, fill, shadow and pack presentation all move click-through measurably.
